Daniel Bañuls Martínez (1905 – 1947) was een artist from Alicante, famous of his drawings and sculptures. This feminine figure was carved in stone and white marble in 1947.
The sculpture is a tribute from Alicante city to Carlos Arniches Barreda (1866-1943) a Spanish comediographer.
This sculpture was Daniel´s last work, which he did not finish, since he died in 1948 at 42 years of age. It was finished by other sculptors. It was inaugurated in the Castillo de San Fernando but later it was moved to the place where it is currently located: the Canalejas park, see pin point below:
